This is the story of three orphaned brothers--Berto, Tolo, and Periking. One afternoon, the two older boys, Berto and Tolo, were flying a kite. They refused to let Periking join them because he was still too young. Periking went off alone and played by the river. He made a small boat out of bamboo, attached a piece of string to it and let it float on the water. Later, on their way home, Berto and Tolo saw Periking tugging a piece of string by the river. They ran to help their brother. It turned out that an enchanted fish was on the other end of the string.
