"When will the Beerkada books be in color?"
This is the most frequent question being texted to me ever since I revealed my cellphone number to the reading public (the next most frequent being "Will you be my textmate?", but that's another story.) And if there's anything I've learned from my year in business scholl, it's "The client is king." (which shows I haven't been listening in class).
And so Tres Kada comes out, somewhat in color.
The purist (and the indolent) in me cries in protest, "Beerkada is originally printed in black and hite, and it's best served in BLACK AND WHITE!" Most of my local and foreign counterparts compile their works in their original monochromatic splendor, with only their Sunday strips being in color. And sitting in front of the monitor, pointing-and-clicking away at 250+ strips is not my proverbial cup of tea.
But no, I'm Mr. Customer Service-Oriented cartoonist. Being headlocked by a cellphone technician will do that to you (that story will be documented in the next Beerkada bool (Quad Kada? Kuwatro Kantos? Seniority Report?)). And so, if the public approves, the Beerkada books will be in color from here onwards.
Special thanks to Ryan Orosco for another great cover. And to Jac ting Lim for helping out in the coloring. And who knows? Maybe in the next book, I can afford more colors.
